International commercial traffic

Icebreakers and weekly scheduled connections enable more than 700 port visits each year despite the conditions caused by the ports’ location. Some of our largest regular visitors include the M/V TransPaper with a load rating of 13,800 tonnes, and other high-capacity RoRo ships.
- Ships depart from Kemi three times weekly to locations in Europe including Antwerp, Gothenburg, Tilbury, Zeebrugge and Lübeck. There are also connections to Spain and Italy every second week.
- Industrial products are shipped out of Ajos Harbour all the way to North Africa and the United States.
- Due to its centralised location, container shipping companies also use the Port as a support base for the storage of empty containers. Regular container feeder service runs twice weekly from Kemi to Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
